To partner with World Vision Australia and churches in the Northern Territory to provide mentoring to indigenous children to positively impact their lives. The Kids Hope Program developed by World Vision focuses on early intervention and the needs of disadvantaged children with the key aim of helping their academic, emotional and social development. The role of St John's is to:
Provide funding for the Northern Territory churches to allow them to undertake the Mentor training and obtain any necessary resources needed to commence.
Support the program and indigenous issues via the following 6 key areas
Learn: Becoming better educated about social injustice (eg free trade), aid and Indigenous issue.
Connect: Connecting with World Vision and the communities that we partner with, to form relationships where we can share our knowledge and experience.
Act: Action within our community to help others and to involve them in raising awareness of aid related issues.
Stand: Advocacy with all levels of government and the media to promote action on behalf of disadvantaged people.
Share: Giving financially and in services provided to the partnership. Coordinating other community groups who may wish to have some financial involvement.
Pray: Coordinating a network of people who will pray for disadvantaged people in general and the Kids Hope partnership in particular.
